A slightly distant starboard side view, taken from well abaft the beam, of the West German training barque Gorch Fock (1958) under sail in the Solent at the start of the Solent - Skaw Tall Ships Race. she has all sails set and is on the starboard tack. The Polish sail training ship Dar Pomorza (1909) is in the distance. A large number of yachts and other leisure craft are in the picture and in the foreground is a catamaran hulled, sloop rigged yacht believed to be named Catanova and built at Poole in 1972. She has the sail mark of the overlapping letters C and L and the number 15.
