A slightly distant starboard side view of Royal Navy scout, 3rd class and armoured cruisers of the Home Fleet at moorings in the Thames or Medway. The scout cruiser on the left is the Blonde (1910) and her after part is out of the picture. In the centre is the 3rd class cruiser Amethyst (1903). In the left background is the armoured cruiser Shannon (1906) and in the right background is the armoured cruiser Achilles (1905). The Blonde and Shannon have standard funnel bands and all vessels have topmasts fitted. Two Thames spritsail barges are under sail in the picture. The photographer is looking from the shore at low tide with mudflats in the foreground and a wharf on the right.
