A three quarter length portrait of Abdul, the Third Officer on board the refrigerated cargo ship Maranga (1972) at sea. The photographer is looking forward standing on the starboard side of the bridge. Abdul is standing in the middle ground taking a reading with a sextant looking off to the starboard side. He is wearing a white short sleeve shirt with naval rank epaulettes and white shorts. Two sets of pivot cranes are in the background. This is Slide 6 of a lecture given by Captain Henry P. Bird detailing his service as Second Officer and later temporary Chief Officer on board the refrigerated cargo ship Maranga (1972) owned by Island Fruit Reefers Ltd and on charter to Salenrederierna from 28 September 1974 to 15 November 1974. The lecture consists of 23 slides.
