A seated portrait of Ralph Collins, the radio or electrical officer, known by the nickname 'Sparks' sitting in the radio room on board the refrigerated cargo ship Maranga (1972) at sea. Collins is sitting in front of the radio console with an open book on the desk with a hand up to his left ear. Collins is wearing a white short sleeve shirt with naval rank epaulettes and white shorts. A partial view of a console is in the background on the right hand side. This is Slide 7 of a lecture given by Captain Henry P. Bird detailing his service as Second Officer and later temporary Chief Officer on board the refrigerated cargo ship Maranga (1972) owned by Island Fruit Reefers Ltd and on charter to Salenrederierna from 28 September 1974 to 15 November 1974. The lecture consists of 23 slides.
