A full portrait view of three crewmen attempting to free a rusted gin block on board the refrigerated cargo ship Maranga (1972) at sea. The photographer is standing on the port side looking towards the superstructure showing oily rags being burnt on the gin block. Two of the crewmen are standing behind the gin block. This is Slide 9 of a lecture given by Captain Henry P. Bird detailing his service as Second Officer and later temporary Chief Officer on board the refrigerated cargo ship Maranga (1972) owned by Island Fruit Reefers Ltd and on charter to Salenrederierna from 28 September 1974 to 15 November 1974. The lecture consists of 23 slides.
