A starboard bow view, taken from fine off the bow, of the refrigerated cargo ship Maranga (1972) alongside a quay at Brownsville, Texas

A starboard bow view, taken from fine off the bow, of the refrigerated cargo ship Maranga (1972) berthed alongside a quay at Brownsville, Texas. The photographer is looking along the edge of the quay showing the ship in ballast and with her port side anchor deployed. A number of cars and trucks are parked on the quayside on the left hand side. Maranga's pivot cranes are extended over the quay from the ship. Two men in a raft are floating next to the deployed anchor chain. A water tower, docks and dockyard buildings are in the background on the right hand side. This is Slide 11 of a lecture given by Captain Henry P. Bird detailing his service as Second Officer and later temporary Chief Officer on board the refrigerated cargo ship Maranga (1972) owned by Island Fruit Reefers Ltd and on charter to Salenrederierna from 28 September 1974 to 15 November 1974. The lecture consists of 23 slides.
