A slightly distant starboard near broadside view, taken from only just abaft the beam, of the Royal Navy torpedo gunboat Circe (1892), presumably at anchor in The Downs. The photographer is on board another vessel and the after part of the hull of the Circe and most of the lower forward part of the hull is hidden by a long swell. Abaft her second funnel only the mainmast and her ensign staff can be seen. Beyond her stern are the masts of a two masted yacht under sail. Both the yacht and the Circe have a large, dark, triangular pennant at the masthead. A note on the negative says the photographer is using Camera B. Negatives numbers N18645 to N18647 were taken on the same occasion.
