The starboard forward poppet of the Japanese Navy battleship Shikishima (1898) on the slipway of the Thames Iron Works shipyard at Blackwall, London.
The starboard forward poppet of the Japanese Navy battleship Shikishima (1898) on the slipway of the Thames Iron Works shipyard at Blackwall, London. The photographer is looking aft from on the slip just ahead of the poppet showing the large drag chain rope on the left. A man wearing a trilby hat is standing between the poppet and the hull of the ship looking at the camera. A note on the vertical format negative says the photographer is using Camera A and a timed exposure of 4 seconds. As the man behind the camera is given as C.J. Bewlay, it is possible that the man in front of the camera is Edgar Tarry Adams.
