A distant port bow view of the Royal Navy battleship Cornwallis (1901) in the water after launching from the Thames Iron Works shipyard at Blackwall, London. The forward part of the ship is hidden by the timber staging on the left side of the building berth and sheerlegs are beyond her stern. The photographer is on a viewing platform at the top left of the sliding ways showing a large number of spectators close to the ways on both side. A note on the negative says the photographer is using Camera A and his father, Edgar Tarry Adams, is said to be standing between the ways..
