A view of the quayside from on board the refrigerated cargo ship Maranga (1972) berthed at a quayside in Brownsville, Texas. The photographer is standing on the head of the accommodation ladder on the starboard side of the ship looking towards the forward end of the vessel. The starboard side of the ship with pivot cranes lifting boxes of oranges on board is in the fore and middle ground on the left hand side. A partial view of 4 crewmen on the deck is on the left hand side. Three yellow forklifts carrying pallets with boxes of oranges are in the fore, middle and backgrounds on the right hand side . Dockyard buildings extend from the fore to the middle ground on the right hand side. 3 dockyard workers are in the middle ground on the quayside. This is Slide 14 of a lecture given by Captain Henry P. Bird detailing his service as Second Officer and later temporary Chief Officer on board the refrigerated cargo ship Maranga (1972) owned by Island Fruit Reefers Ltd and on charter to Salenrederierna from 28 September 1974 to 15 November 1974. The lecture consists of 23 slides.
