Six crewmen and stevedores unloading a pallet of boxes of oranges in Number one hold on the refrigerated cargo ship Maranga (1972) alongside a quay at Brownsville, Texas. The photographer is standing on the port side of the ship looking over the open hatch to the starboard side of the ship. Three of the stevedores are standing on boxes in the open hatch about to transfer the oranges from the pallet into the hold. Two of the stevedores are standing on the right. One crewman is standing on the upper deck on the other side of the open hatch and waving at the photographer. A partial view of a dockyard building is in the background. This is Slide 20 of a lecture given by Captain Henry P. Bird detailing his service as Second Officer and later temporary Chief Officer on board the refrigerated cargo ship Maranga (1972) owned by Island Fruit Reefers Ltd and on charter to Salenrederierna from 28 September 1974 to 15 November 1974. The lecture consists of 23 slides.
