A starboard quarter view taken from very fine off the stern of the refrigerated cargo ship Maranga (1972) berthed alongside a quay at Brownsville, Texas. The photographer is standing on the quayside. The pivot cranes in the foreground on the ship are loading boxes of oranges onto the vessel. A car and two trucks are in the middle ground on the quayside on the right hand side. The closed metal hatch of a lighter is in the foreground. A crewman is standing on the boat deck between the samson posts on Maranga. A Red Ensign is flying from a flag staff on the stern of Maranga. The words "Maranga Glasgow" are painted on the stern of the ship. Dockyard buildings and oil tanks are in the background on the left and right hand sides. This is Slide 23 of a lecture given by Captain Henry P. Bird detailing his service as Second Officer and later temporary Chief Officer on board the refrigerated cargo ship Maranga (1972) owned by Island Fruit Reefers Ltd and on charter to Salenrederierna from 28 September 1974 to 15 November 1974. The lecture consists of 23 slides.
