A port broadside view of a cutter from the Royal Navy iron screw corvette Volage (1869), which is at anchor in The Downs or the Thames Estuary while serving in the Training Squadron. The cutter has ten oarsmen with one man at the tiller and another acting as lookout. The afterpart of the boat is hidden by the swell.
