A starboard quarter view, taken from wide off the stern, of the Royal Navy iron screw corvette Active (1869) at anchor in The Downs or the Thames Estuary. She is the flagship of the Training Squadron. Her sails are very neatly stowed and she has boats boom rigged. A cutter is close to her stern and some of her boats are swung out. A vertical format negative.
