A slightly distant starboard side view, taken from well abaft the beam, of the Royal Navy 1st class protected cruiser Amphitrite (1898) at anchor with other units of the B Fleet in The Downs. The Amphitrite was specially commissioned with a full crew for the duration of the annual manoeuvres in July and August 1901 and there were 12 battleships and five large cruisers in the B Fleet for these manoeuvres. Various battleships are in the background. A note on the negative says the photographer is using Camera A.
