A distant port bow view, taken from wide off the bow, of the Walmer lifeboat Civil Service No. 4 (1896) under sail on the port tack, returning to the beach at Walmer, Kent. She has both lugsails hoisted. A 3-masted barque is at anchor in The Downs in the distance. There is slight image movement. Negatives numbers N18808 to N18816 were all taken during the same beaching operation.
