A port bow view of the Walmer lifeboat Civil Service No. 4 (1896) hitting the beach while still under sail at Walmer, Kent.
A port bow view of the Walmer lifeboat Civil Service No. 4 (1896) hitting the beach while still under sail at Walmer, Kent. Her lugsails are set and her stern is being lifted by a wave. Men on the beach are waiting to receive a line from the boat. The tip of her foremast is just out of the picture and there is slight camera movement. Negatives numbers N18808 to N18816 were all taken during the same beaching operation.
