A slightly distant starboard bow view of the Walmer lifeboat Civil Service No. 4 (1896) broadside on to the beach during recovery at Walmer, Kent. A line is ashore forward and two of the beaching crew are hauling on it. The tip of her foremast is just out of the picture. A few onlookers are on the left and Deal Pier is in the background. The horizon is not level. Negatives numbers N18808 to N18816 were all taken during the same beaching operation.
