A port side view, taken from well abaft the beam, of the wreck of the three-masted barquentine Mary Ann (1863) off Sandown Castle, The Downs, Kent. She was blown ashore in a SE Force 9 gale on 29 September 1899 while on a voyage from North Shields to Cherbourg with coal. All of her masts are still standing and her furled sails are still on board. The tops of her main and mizzen masts are out of the picture. A conical wreck buoy is in the foreground. The negative is cracked and a note on the negative says the photographer was using Camera B. Negatives Numbers N18821 to N18827 were taken on the same day.
