On board the Wreck Marking Light Vessel marking the wreck of the steamship Patria (1894) in The Downs, between Deal and Walmer, Kent. The photographer is looking forward from amidships showing the captain and his crew gathered by the forecastle windlass. The galley funnel is on the left with the warning gong and bell mounted ahead of it. The Patria was wrecked on 17 November 1899. A note on the negative says the photographer was using Camera B. Negatives Numbers N18843 to N18847 are of this wreck marking light vessel and she was removed from the location in January 1902.
