A starboard side view of the sunken wreck of the steamship Patria (1894) in The Downs, between Deal and Walmer, Kent.
A starboard side view of the sunken wreck of the steamship Patria (1894) in The Downs, between Deal and Walmer, Kent. It is high tide and the hull is almost completely submerged. Her fore and main masts and her funnel are standing and her mizzen mast is broken. A cutter rigged smack is alongside the wreck and a Wreck Marking Light Vessel is in the background. The Patria was wrecked on 17 November 1899 after being abandoned heavily on fire. A note on the negative says the photographer was using Camera B. Negatives Numbers N18848 to N18867 are of this wreck.
