A starboard quarter view of the partially sunken wreck of the steamship Patria (1894) in The Downs, between Deal and Walmer, Kent. It is high tide. All of the hull and nearly all of the superstructure is under water. The foremast, mainmast, funnel and machinery spaces ventilators are still standing although the funnel is leaning aft and to starboard. A wreck marking light vessel is in the background. The Patria was wrecked on 17 November 1899 after being abandoned heavily on fire. A note on the negative says the photographer was using Camera B. Negatives Numbers N18848 to N18867 are of this wreck.
