A starboard side view of the blasting boat rowing away from the almost completely sunken wreck of the steamship Patria (1894) in The Downs, between Deal and Walmer, Kent. There are six men in the boat and they have placed explosives on the wreck which is in the background, between their boat and the wreck marking light vessel. Very little of the wreck is visible above the water. The Patria was wrecked on 17 November 1899 after being abandoned heavily on fire. A note on the negative says the photographer was using Camera B. Negatives Numbers N18848 to N18867 are of this wreck.
