A demolition charge exploding on the almost completely sunken wreck of the steamship Patria (1894) in The Downs, between Deal and Walmer, Kent. Very little of the wreck is visible above the water and the men controlling the explosion are in a small boat on the right. The Patria was wrecked on 17 November 1899 after being abandoned heavily on fire. The horizon is not quite level. A note on the negative says the photographer was using Camera B. Negatives Numbers N18848 to N18867 are of this wreck.
