A port side view of the almost completely sunken wreck of the steamship Patria (1894) in The Downs, between Deal and Walmer, Kent. The wreck marking light vessel is in the left background. Very little of the wreck is visible above the water. A Thames spritsail barge is under sail in the right background and a four-hold, single funnelled steamer is passing in the centre. The Patria was wrecked on 17 November 1899 after being abandoned heavily on fire. A note on the negative says the photographer was using Camera B. Negatives Numbers N18848 to N18867 are of this wreck.
