A port bow view, taken from wide off the bow, of a demolition charge exploding amidships on the partially sunken wreck of the steamship Patria (1894) in The Downs, between Deal and Walmer, Kent. It is high tide and the charge has just been fired by the funnel. Only the foremast, mainmast, funnel and machinery spaces ventilators are visible. The Patria was wrecked on 17 November 1899 after being abandoned heavily on fire. Negatives Numbers N18848 to N18867 are of this wreck.
