An officer and a female instructor of the Halstead Boys Naval Brigade in a garden at Halstead, Essex. The officer, seen from just ahead of his right side, is the second-in-command of the unit and he is standing to attention, dressed in a military uniform and is at 'order arms' holding a bolt action rifle with fixed bayonet. The female instructor is in a navy style uniform, complete with cap, collar, lanyard and silk, and is holding the Union flag on a pole in her right hand. They are preparing to take part in the village's Armistice celebrations. Irises and shrubs are in the background. Negative number N18875 is similar.
