The Halstead Boys Naval Brigade Unit in a formal photograph in front of a marquee in a garden at Halstead, Essex. There are at least 25 boys in the picture and behind them to the right of centre is their commander and to the left is the second-in-command. The unit's 4-oared cutter is on the grass in the foreground and four of the cadets are in the boat with tossed oars. Also in the boat is one of the female instructors, wearing a naval style uniform complete with collar, lanyard and silk. She has three chevrons on her sleeve. Negative number N18882 is similar.
