A formal group photograph of the Halstead Boys Naval Brigade unit outside a marquee in a garden at Halstead, Essex. There are eighteen cadets with two officers, two female instructors and a nurse. Seated in the centre of the group are the two female instructors in uniform, the three ring commander and his second-in-command, both in uniform and wearing armbands. Six cadets are sitting cross-legged in the front with a presentation cup on a drum in front of the them. Ten cadets are standing behind the officers and the nurse is next to them. A cadet bugler is standing on the left of the picture with a clinker-built rowing boat on a two-wheeled trolley next to him. Another cadet is standing on the right in front of a two-wheeled cart. Negatives Numbers N18876 and N18893 are very similar.
