Officers and cadets of the Boys Naval Brigade Unit posing for a group photograph in a greenhouse in a garden at Halstead, Essex. At the back of the group are, from left to right, the unit's second-in-command, the commander, the senior female instructor and another woman. The female instructor is wearing a navy style uniform complete with cap, collar, lanyard and silk, and on her sleeve are three chevrons surmounted by crossed anchors and a crown.
