A photograph of a mounted watercolour by Edgar Tarry Adams of a Deal lugger under sail in The Downs. The vessel is depicted from very fine off the starboard bow. She is under sail on the starboard tack in a strong breeze and she has a jib sail on her bowsprit and a lugsail on each mast. She has a crew of one. Another lugger is in the left background and a chequered can buoy is in the right background. The artwork is signed E.T. Adams and dated 22/10/1885 in the bottom left corner.
