Renown (1857) and Revenge (1859)

Scale 1:48. Plan shows the sheer lines, longitudinal half breadth and body plan with stern detail for the steam screw second rate ships of the line Renown (1857) and Revenge (1859). The drawing shows alterations to be used for the screw ship of the line Anson (1860), Atlas (1860) and Defiance (1861) in red ink. The plan bears the signatures of Admiral Baldwin Wake Walker [Surveyor of the Navy 1848-1861], Isaac Watts [Assistant Surveyor 1848-1860] and John Edye [Assistant Surveyor 1832-1855]. The title of the drawing is "A draught prepared for building the Revenge and Renown to be propelled by a screw with engines of 800 horses power". The drawing is extremely fragile and parts of it are missing.
