A slightly distant port side view, taken from well abaft the beam, of the Thames spritsail staysail barge Champion (1861) moored offshore at Herne Bay, Kent. She is fully laden. In the foreground are three goat carts and two horse drawn carriages. Herne Bay pier is in the background. It was one of the longest in the country but was destroyed in a storm in 1978 and dismantled in 1980. A note on the negative says the photographer was using Camera B.
