A distant starboard side view of a tug towing a ketch barge in Sandwich Haven, up the River Stour to Sandwich, Kent. The two masted, lug rigged yacht Sea Gull (1874), seen from just ahead of her port beam, is in a creek in the right foreground. On the left is an artist sitting at his easle at the water's edge under the shade of an umbrella and a rowing boat containing two men is in the water near him. A recent (c.1984) note on the negative bag says "IDA of Sunderland towing up Sandwich Haven ??1890??" but there is no vessel of the name registered at Sunderland in the Mercantile Navy List or Lloyd's Register throughout the period 1895 to 1914.
