A port side view, taken from ahead of the beam, of the paddle tug Harwich (1877) in Harwich harbour. She is alongside a short pier and is as built with twin funnels. The stern of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution self-righting lifeboat Springwell (1881) is in the right foreground. Moored out in the harbour and seen from off her port beam is the Royal Navy ironclad ram Hotspur (1870) in service as the coast guard ship.
