Spritsail barges under sail in St. Clement Reach, River Thames. Two laden topsail barges are heading upriver and they are being followed by two steamships. Broadness light tower is on the right. Grays, Essex, is on the left and the training ship Exmouth (1854), former 2nd Rate, is moored off the town. The photographer is on board an excursion vessel which is heading upriver.
