An unidentified scene during the construction of the armoured cruiser Black Prince (1904) on the slip at theThames Iron Works Shipbuilding & Engineering Co. Ltd shipyard at Blackwall, London. The photographer is looking at a substantial construction of large timber baulks and planks held together with steel spike staples. A steel plate is lying on the ground in the foreground and a portable compressed air coke forge is on the right. Behind the timber framework is a steel structure and painted on a plate on the left is "Vent casing on main deck".
