Shipping in The Downs or the Thames Estuary. A thames coasting spritsail barge, seen from off her port quarter, is under sail on the left. She has her bowsprit topped, her leeboards are raised and she is towing her boat. Other spritsail barges are at anchor and under sail in the left background. On the right is a single funnel, two masted, three island steamship that appears to be just under way. She has deck cranes and also has a low yard crossed on each mast.
