The beach at Walmer, Kent, during the annual Deal yachting day.
The beach at Walmer during the annual Deal yachting day. Large racing yachts under full sail off the beach at Walmer getting ready for the start of a race. The two boats on the right are cutter rigged and they both have their gaff topsail triced up. The nearer boat also has a jib topsail set. The two yachts in the centre background are two-masted schooners and the two yachts in the left background are yawls. The three boats drawn up on the beach are all owned by Edgar Tarry Adams. The two masted, lug rigged Sea Gull (1874), seen from off her starboard quarter, is dressed overall. On the right and seen from off the port bow are the single masted lugger Sandpiper (1899) and the single masted lugger Isabel Adams (Fl. 1890) which is also dressed overall. A note on the negative says the photographer is using Camera C.
