Two men sitting on the beach at Walmer, Kent.

Two unidentified men sitting on the beach at Walmer, Kent. A capstan is in the centre of the photograph and the man sitting nearest to it is wearing a cap with the tally "Sea Gull. R.C.P.Y.C.". The Sea Gull is the two-masted, lug-rigged yacht owned by Edgar Tarry Adams and the initials are the Rpyal Cinque Ports Yacht Club, of which Adams was a member. This man appears to be a regular crewman of the Sea Gull. The other man is wearing a Coast Guard uniform with three chevrons on the left sleeve. The photographer is looking south along the shingle beach and various boats are stored at the top of the beach in the background.
