A view across Marine Road, the promenade and beach at Walmer, Kent, from the photographer's residence, The Bungalow. Drawn stern first up on the beach is his yacht, the Sea Gull (1874) and to the right is his boathouse. A small yawl-rigged boat is under sail close inshore. A group of schoolboys is walking along the promenade. A former Royal Navy 2nd Rate line-of-battle ship is in The Downs in the centre of the picture. She is presumably in tow, possibly to a breaker's yard.
