Eight men ploughing the beach at Walmer, Kent.
Eight men ploughing the beach at Walmer, Kent. They have their backs to the sea as they haul on a line connected to a wooden plough that is out of the picture. The purpose of the plough is to flatten out the ridges of shingle on the beach to make it easier to launch and haul out boats. Deal Pier is in the background. A note on the negative says the photographer is using Camera B.
