An informal head and shoulders portrait of Edgar Tarry Adams sitting behind the desk in his den. He is wearing the uniform jacket of a Lieutenant in the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve. His desk is covered in books, documents and boxes. The walls behind him are hung with numerous framed photographs, a St. John Ambulance Association certificate and other framed items. Also hung on the walls are a kukri, a barometer and two large sextants. It is not known which of the family homes this room is in: The Cottage, Halstead, Essex, or The Bungalow, Lower Walmer, Deal, Kent. Negative number N19224 was taken on the same occasion.
