A man and woman standing on a pier or landing stage, possibly at Tilbury.

A man and woman standing on a pier or landing stage, possibly at Tilbury. They are posing for the photographer and are possibly members of the Adams family. The landing stage has a railway track turntable on it. The stern of a steamship is on the right. On the left is the stern of an unknown type of vessel which has a small gaff on the raked after mast and the steering wheel and compass are on the poop. A single funnel steamship is visible between the mast and the boat davit of the vessel on the left. Spritsail barges and a ketch are at anchor in the background with a low-lying shore beyond them. The original negative envelope said this was at Deal but that is definitely incorrect.
