The Port Tewfik [now Suez Port] Memorial taken from on board the tanker Malwa (1961). The photographer is standing on the port side of the ship looking to port. The memorial consists of a tall stone pillar surrounded by a waist high stone wall. A government motor launch is in the foreground. The river with the memorial and a partial view of the port is in the background. A white and red marking buoy is off the river bank on the right hand side of the image. A stone breakwater with small craft in harbour is in the middle ground on the left hand side of the image. This is Slide 59 of a lecture given by Captain Henry P. Bird detailing his service as Senior Second Officer and Navigator on board the tanker Malwa (1961), owned by the P&O Group, from 14 November 1963 to 9 March 1964. The lecture consists of 75 slides.
