A view of Fort de Bouc in Lavera, France, taken from on board the tanker Malwa (1961)

A view of Fort de Bouc in Lavera, France taken from on board the tanker Malwa (1961). The photographer is standing on the port side of the bridge deck looking forward and to starboard. Fort de Bouc and a scotch crane near the bank are in the foreground. A stone breakwater is beyond the fort in the middle ground. Oil storage tanks are visible in the background on the right hand side of the image. Three ships are at the port in the background. One of the ships has a black, white and red striped funnel and is possibly a Russian vessel. The tanker behind it has a black topped funnel with a yellow background and an illegible red coloured symbol. The third unidentified vessel has a black topped, white, black and white coloured funnel. The town of Martigues is in the background. This is Slide 61 of a lecture given by Captain Henry P. Bird detailing his service as Senior Second Officer and Navigator on board the tanker Malwa (1961), owned by the P&O Group, from 14 November 1963 to 9 March 1964. The lecture consists of 75 slides.
