A port quarter view, taken from wide off the stern, of the two masted, lug rigged yacht Sea Gull (1874) launching from the shingle beach at Walmer, Kent. Edgar Tarry Adams is in the cockpit holding the mainsheet and the tiller. The boat's bow is hidden by the spray of hitting the water at speed. She has all three of her sails set but they have been set aback by the force of the boat hitting the water. The photographer is looking down the beach from the high tide mark. A vertical format negative.
