A ship's boat being prepared for lowering from the tanker Malwa (1961) at Port Said. The photographer is standing on the port side of the tanker looking to port. Four men are on board the boat and one is holding a demountable aerial mast. A unidentified American built C2 type former escort carrier converted to a passenger ship is sailing in the opposite Canal towards the Mediterranean Sea. The Mediterranean Sea is in the background. This is Slide 65 of a lecture given by Captain Henry P. Bird detailing his service as Senior Second Officer and Navigator on board the tanker Malwa (1961), owned by the P&O Group, from 14 November 1963 to 9 March 1964. The lecture consists of 75 slides.
