A starboard bow view, taken from very fine off the bow, of the lug rigged dinghy Spitfire (1898) under sail running into the beach at Walmer, Kent. She is on the starboard tack and is rushing through the surf with Edgar Tarry Adams at the helm and a crewman holding onto the mast. A steamship is in The Downs on the skyline. A note on the vertical format negative says the photographer is using Camera A. The negative is stained and the emulsion is damaged.
