Two unidentified men standing by a rowing boat at the water's edge in an unknown south-east England location. The man by the starboard bow of the boat is a seaman but the man by the port side is not. He is wearing a jacket, collar and tie and a cap and a is smoking a cigarette. The bottom few inches of his trousers are rolled up. The foreshore is covered in seaweed and the background is shrouded in mist. The negative is badly scratched and marked and part has been treated with masking ink.
